I was in this one ceremony where the room was kind of stoic. Nothing dramatic or significant seemed to be happening…until this song played where the chorus lyrics were “dear me, I forgive you,” and the WHOLE room started balling! The song gave you permission to forgive yourself!

Quotes:

Tony: Medicine music has always been around, as music that was borne from/created by the psychedelic/entheogenic experience. You can say all indigenous/tribal/ceremonial music is medicine music.

Tony: An interesting thing about plant medicine music is how tailored the music needs to be and can be for each type of medicine that you’re working with. What works for an LSD, mushroom, or MDMA session may not cross over to say an Ayahuasca session. A good practitioner know which music will work! The music can dictate the journey.

Tony: I was in this one ceremony where the room was kind of stoic. Nothing dramatic or significant seemed to be happening…until this song played where the chorus lyrics were “dear me, I forgive you,” and the WHOLE room started balling! The song gave you permission to forgive yourself!

Tony: Something that comes up so often with ayahuasca work, is that people ask “is what I’m experiencing in an ayahuasca ceremony real? Are the beings I encounter real?” I say it doesn’t matter if it’s real—the reason why 12 people can have the same experience, tho it looks so different to each person, is because the higher self/god/spirit/cosmos or however you cognize that, needs to speak to you in SYMBOLS that make sense to each person.

Tony: With psychedelic integration work, people are challenged by the messages received, wanting to know how to act on them, wondering if they should take them literally. I almost always say to give it a few days…if ayahuasca told you to quit your job immediately and move to Alaska…I’d wait a few days (because the message of the plant advice may be symbolic vs. literal)
