I’ve felt like I’m high on psychedelics just by being immersed in it…for me the door’s been opened so I don’t necessarily need  to ingest the chemicals.  If I’m around other people on psychedelics, it’s really easy for me to tap into that energy.

About This Episode

Today, Daniel interviews multi-talented vocalist Sunshine Becker! Sunshine’s known for her collaboration with acts such as Further, SoVoSó, Passenger, and the Everyone Orchestra.

Sunshine shares with us her deep connection to and reverence for water, and how the sense of it’s flow inspires her creative process.  This relation to water, in a sense, is for Sunshine the psychedelic compound that best inspires feelings of oneness & awe.

Sunshine recounts her first LSD dose at her first Dead show from back in ‘92 and how it lit the spark to guide her journey.

Being such a community-oriented & generous performer, Sunshine opens up about her life since the Covid-19 social distance norms set in. But, windows open up in dark times, as Sunshine’s teaching of online music classes brightens her heart!

Quotes:

Sunshine: (on the importance of finding your proper dosage) You really have to know your own chemical makeup…it’s like with music how we’re all trying to get our mix right.  When you get your mix right, it’s like you can walk through the world without hesitation or fear.

Sunshine: For me the magic of water is the eternal flow, this constant flow that when you’re willing to expand your mind, and go down certain paths and introduce certain chemicals into your being,  you can become so much more aware of that eternal flow…that not only are you part of the flow, but also you are the flow.

Sunshine: (on contact-highs) I’ve felt like I’m high on psychedelics just by being immersed in it…for me the door’s been opened so I don’t necessarily need  to ingest the chemicals.  If I’m around other people on psychedelics, it’s really easy for me to tap into that energy.

Sunshine: In the Grateful Dead community, there’s so much spirituality, with people coming together to find their best selves & to love each other & to be a source of light & love in the time  of togetherness.

Sunshine: (on teaching music) When I’m teaching, it’s when I feel the most happy & rewarded. There’s something so special about helping someone set a musical goal and watching them reach it!
