Myq Kaplan

Today, Daniel chats with comedian & musician Myq Kaplan. Myq has performed on the Tonight Show, Conan, the Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Seth Meyers, the Late Late Show with James Corden, in his own half-hour Comedy Central Presents special, and in his own one-hour special on Netflix and now Amazon, “Small, Dork, and Handsome.”

Myq shares his first time encountering mushrooms, which were gifted to him by an audience member after he performed. This led him to a deep experience of “connectivity.”

Myq: My first mushroom experience, there was like this beautiful presence. I had insights into the sameness of us all. That we’re all in different places in different times seemingly made of different things yet in actuality are all made of the same things. 

Dan:  when journeying, I’ll use a journal as like a bucket to collect the thoughts/idea in my head that get caught on loop—these thoughts pull me outta the wave but when I write them down I can get back on. Remembering thoughts is gorgeous, but hey so too is letting them go!

Dan: Parts of us are more capable offering love & parts that desperately need love & call out for it—if, we can put ‘em together in the psychedelic state, we have healing! 

Myq: Love is the ONLY thing that’s always real—we’re always calling for & manifesting it. Art/comedy/music comes from the seed of Love. In comedy it’s def called for more than its offered!
