About This Episode

Today, Daniel welcomes singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jazz Lei Amora onto the show!!!

Jazz was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  As the daughter of Filipino immigrants, she was surrounded by their creativity and native music.  These formative years engrained in her an irrevocable fascination for music and the arts.

As a multi instrumentalist, she is able to fuse music from across genres of soul, R&B, devotional mantra music and medicine music.  Using a variety of instruments ranging from piano, guitar, harp, kalimba, ukulele, charango, harmonium, crystal singing bowls, and gongs, Jazz has created a unique sound that evokes a sacred & timeless energy.

Quotes:

Jazz: I’ve been connecting with what people would call Aliens! They give me tips & downloads on how to visualize how sound comes out of my throat & how instruments facilitate healing in people’s bodies.

Jazz: In my visions of Atlantis it’s just beaming with crazy technology, way more advanced than ours. I think that’s where my fascination with crystals comes from because it’s like there’s this unharnessed energy in them. I remember being in these large cathedrals that were all made of crystals.

Dan: Is my use of humor a cultural program to downplay profound healing communication? Is it a cultural trance that perpetuates our low-vibrational sickness?

Jazz: Psychedelics help us shift things. One by one, as we break apart destructive programming & re-connect with the neurogenesis of healing.

Jazz: I focus on simplicity when writing songs. I think that the art of listening to what people need helps me with the resonance factor of songwriting. Giving  space for whatever I’ve invoked thru me is the most important part of the message of my music.

Jazz: There’s mathematics about ancestry, like how many ancestors it took to make you. Everything that every ancestor in your life did you bring you to this current moment. Looking at it that way & thinking “what am I going to do with this moment?” I favor that perspective vs. just thinking “well I’m a lazy American, I need to just think for myself”.

Jazz: I think that the best way to explore ancestral healing is to talk to your parents & other living family members & listen to their stories. Storytelling is one of the best ways to learn where you come from.  That and exploring shamanic work like drumming, rattles, & meditation.
